Among the 1000 gratitudes, I am grateful for spring evenings. Last night, the Minnesota evening air reached a balmy 35°, so my kids convinced us to have a fire outside.

It’s possible that they’re just in it for the marshmallows.

My younger daughter has a lot of patience and appreciation for golden marshmallows, but my older daughter likes them really roasted.

But eventually the marshmallows have been and the night quiets down, and the fire is still going. The children pick out what constellations they can, and invent others. It’s still too cold to imagine summer, but with warm clothes and blankets, this night is warm enough.
